Organic house

Mixed live on Serato this summer. Organic house that wanders off into bass, a few remixes you'll half-recognize, and a couple of turns I didn't plan.

Folk · Electronica · Psydub

Fiddles, fingerpicked guitar, and layered voices over electronic beats, with some psydub underneath. The sunset-on-the-grass side of what I play.

Psydub · Downtempo · Ragga jungle

Two hours recorded at Presence Studios. Starts in psydub and downtempo and slowly builds into ragga jungle. Headphones recommended.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE MIX

JOSHUA HALE.
DJ TRU-AH

I started DJing in Seattle in my early twenties as DJ Noisemaker, playing breakbeat in warehouses and downtown clubs. Then I went to Burning Man, heard dubstep and mid-tempo bass for the first time, and came home and played it to Seattle crowds who'd never heard of it yet. The house heads didn't always know what to do with me. The bass heads did.

I've lived somewhere between scenes ever since.

On one side of my record bag: Habitaat, Tone Ranger, Manic Focus, AHEE. On the other: Rising Appalachia, Shook Twins, Ayla Nereo. My sets happen where those two crowds would meet if somebody threw them a party.

These days I live on a family farm in Bellingham with my wife and daughter. I've played festivals, weddings, community gatherings, aesthetic dances, yoga classes, and everything in between. Always a different set. That's the beauty of it.
